Ah, food.

Comic: Mealtime, the great get together of families everywhere. Not because of the family, but because of the food. That's especially true in their castle where no one is truely family. Smick knows the others well, and uses it to his advantage.

Life: You ever have one of those days. You know, the days when the bus doesn't stop where you want it too, even though it's supposed to. I would have been on time for work if it had stopped. Oh well, my boss isn't too harsh about being a minute or two late. In other news, I'll be away Friday thru Monday. As per usual this won't disrupt the comic, but if by some chance you happen to email me I won't get it until Monday. I'll say more about my trip as the day gets closer.

Life like art

Life: Go figure the day I have a comic up about my characters getting woken up early, I get woken up early. One of my friends needed a ride to work, but it's still ridiculous.

28 May 2005

Snack.

Comic: In this comic, life intrudes. Specifically Nob's line, which was borrowed from my brother. My brother was trying to indicate that there wasn't a certain type of cereal in the cereal cupboard but he couldn't come up with the word.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: Last night was a blast. Myself and Anna went and kidnapped another friend of ours. We drove up to the friend's house, waited until she came out, then tied her up, put duct tape over her mouth and threw her in the trunk of my car. Okay we didn't do any of that, but we didn't tell her where we were going until we got there. We went to the sculpture garden and ran around for a little while before we had to take our friend home. Then took Anna home, came home, wrote this, and crashed. The end.

Bada bing

Comic: And Morix is staying. I was of two minds on how to play this comic. On one hand I thought that Morix would see doing chores as below him. On the other hand if you have godlike powers and no other obligations, doing chores would literally be a snap. You can see which one won out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: I may have a different job soon. I'll be getting an internship to learn about being a sys admin.

26 May 2005

It never rains but it pours.

Life: I was walking home from work today, when it started hailing. Out of the blue, sunny sky comes hail. On a 65 F day. It hailed for a bit, then went back to being sunny and 65. What a kooky weather pattern. I wasn't hurt because I had my Cat-in-the-hat hat on and it kept the hail off me. Though I did have to pick bits of ice out of it afterwards.

24 May 2005

The hat

Comic: I didn't really want to do this comic. I wanted to have more resolution on the hat chasing Maku Yan, however I kinda roped myself into a corner by progressing to this late in the comic day before doing anything with them. I think I'll do more with Maku Yan and the hat when they wake up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: Why do so many places want people with lots of experience? I mean where do they think these experienced people are going to come from if they're not offering jobs to people just out of college. I think they are deluded and believe in magic.

21 May 2005

Not getting it.

Comic: Nob still doesn't get Lily. Watch for craziness when he finally does. I don't know how much longer I'm going to streach it out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: Just got back from the club. The bands were better this week, much because they were actual bands, not just solo artists. We had someone there who had never been to a 'concert' before and they thought it was loud. It was somewhat loud, but the marching band is louder.

Planning ahead

Comic: When you live with Nob, you're bound to need childproofing at some point. Smick justs plans ahead.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: More Star Wars: The really nagging thing about episode III is the disconnect in Darth Vader. In episode IV he's really bad, like choke people because they disagree with him on really little things bad. In III he seems to be turning evil only because he thinks it's the only way to save Padme. This really doesn't jive with what Obi Wan says in IV about Vader being seduced by the easy power of the dark side. It would have been so much more conclusive if Vader in III was more arrogant about obtaining power, you know more like Palpatine is in III. As far as I can see Palpatine is the only tough as nails evil-because-I-like-it bad guy. Which is sad. Oh well, time to sit and wait for the Boba Fett books that explain what he was doing between II and V.

20 May 2005

Breaking Things

Comic: When I was going to make this comic I realized that we hadn't seen Dual/Duel in a while. That's the trouble with having a cast of so many main characters, you tend to forget if someone isn't showing up as much as they should.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: Just got back from Star Wars Episode III. I'll say this: Dark. Also I was right about the PG-13 rating not coming from Lucas suddenly deciding that the Star Wars saga needed sex scenes.

18 May 2005

Chase

Comic: The chase is coming to a close. Also notice that it's getting dark out. You know what that means right? Yep, it's going to be bedtime for the castle soon.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: The bus is full of crazy people. So I'm riding the bus to work as usual and at one of the stops there is a man in a wheelchair, no not the same one from before. This is not unusual either as the bus has special accomadations for people in wheelchairs. Small problem arises when he gets on the bus, there's a little elevator thing that comes out of the stairs if you're wondering, the wheel chair is facing the wrong way to get properly fastened down and it's one of those motorized buggy ones so it can't turn around in the aisle. The bus driver decides the best way to make turn around room is to flip up both sets of wheelchair seats so the man in the wheelchair has the entire width of the bus to turn around in. Then the annoying bit starts. Sitting in one of the wheelchair flip up seats is a lady with a walking cast. When the bus driver asks her to move so the wheelchair can turn around, she does stand up, but immediately begins complaining loudly about having to stand on her bad leg. She has also left her stuff on the seat the driver wants to flip up to let the wheelchair turn around. The wheelchair starts to turn around, all the while the lady with the cast is demanding that the wheelchair hurry up because she's standing on her bad leg. She didn't seem to understand that the bus driver needed to flip up both sets of seats becauase she went over to the other seats and tried to flip them down while the man in the wheelchair is trying to turn around and back into those same seats. All this time She is of course completely ignoring the open seats in the section reserved for disabled and elderly people where her cast would fit just fine. She's giving another chorus of "oh poor me, you horrible people are making me stand on my bad leg" the guy in the wheelchair looks at her and say, "Quit complaining, I've got two bad legs". She complained less after that. And in case you care, I never sit in the seats reserved for disabled and elderly. So one funny and annoying day on the bus.

17 May 2005

Conquest

Comic: Nob can be really nice, even while he's being silly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: As I was coming home on the bus, we got passed by a guy in a wheelchair. No really, we passed the guy, then when we got to the stoplight he passed us back. He was in one of those motorized chairs, but I still think it was funny.

14 May 2005

Closet

Comic: I was short on time and the sword swinging Nob is a nice pose, hence the comic.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: Mostly a normal Saturday yesterday, except I went out to a club with Anna and Jenny. It was fun, but less amusing than I expected as all the bands at the club were solo acts. It's supposed to be better next week. Also I almost got in a car accident on the way home. Apparently some people can't read, because they were all about crossing the solid white line when the sign specifically said not to cross it.

13 May 2005

Slip and slide

Comic: The middle panels are from above and behind Nob's head. Yeah, a frying pan was the best I could come up with. Eventually I hope to draw an extended sequence that takes many more panels and lots more contraptions.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: Less than a week until the new star wars movie. Yes I have some plans. I have started the lovely job search. Joy.

11 May 2005

Hair

Comic: Appearance issues are not restricted entirely to females. I've know a few vain males. In about a week the story should continue in a somewhat regular fashion. That means back to the three or more panels a day instead of one. You know what's odd? My comics come in several sizes, but not two panels. One, three, four, or six, but not two. At least not recently. Weird.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: Finals are over, the job search begins. How depressing. Maybe I'll do something interesting this week. We'll see.

08 May 2005

Bottle

Comic: I like this comic, mostly because one of the first drawing I ever drew of Nob was a drawing of him stuck halfway into a bottle. The single panelers will continue for at least a week more because that's how big the buffer is right now.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: Finals are here! Also I took the weekend off from blogging because I had a lot of being lazy to catch up on. I'm so close to getting done with this semester!

06 May 2005

Hat Chase

Comic: The hat chase continues. Maku Yan is using the same move he used to get away from Smick in an earlier comic, but the hat is a little more agile than Smick. The next few days will be single panels, hopefully I'll get back to story related stuff when finals finish.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: Finals, studying, and one last paper I have to finish tommorrow. Also hung out with some friends on Thursday and talked movies. In addition to that I discovered that the Japanese write the opposite way we do. Confused the heck out of me when I tried to read the manga someone showed me.

04 May 2005

Effects

Comic: The effects are nice in this one, though I didn't make up any magic words for the trap detection spell. The idea for the comic isn't entirely new. It's still is funny that Smick is one step ahead of everybody, including Lord High Chief.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: Homework, studying, finals. Almost there, but summer classes are not cooperating. If I don't get a credit or debit card soon, my little trip to Missouri to visit other Keenspacers might not go through. Don't worry though, I'm working on it as fast as I can.

03 May 2005

Here again.

Comic: Holy Geez! Is it time for this comic already. I thought I just made that comic a week ago. Oh wait, I did. This next week is definately getting a large share of entirely gag comics. Hopefully I'll have more time to get the story moving after finals are over next week.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: I found out that obtaining a credit card is much like obtaining a girlfriend. They expect you to have had one for three months before you have sufficient history to get your first one. Unfortunately I didn't have the "get stupid lucky and obtain one back in high school bit" so now I'm pretty much locked out of getting either a credit card or a girlfriend. How depressing.

02 May 2005

Wheels on the bus

Life: Two new reactions to the hats.
Are you colorblind?
Don't you have a santa hat?
Apparently people are noticing me if they know what hats I have. For the record I haven't worn the santa hat in over a month now.

repeat

Comic: The hat chasing wasn't entirely a set up for this comic, but it mostly was. Now I have to figure out how to end that little sequence. As I said before, expect too see a lot of thematic jokes until studying and finals are over. Just one more week.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life: Went to a Lost and Found concert. No really that's the name of the band. You should hear about their cds. Their first cd is "Speedwood". It has a really long explaination so I'm going to skip it. The next cd of note is called "This". The next one after that is called "Something". After that "Something Else" and their new one is going to be called "Pronto". Listening to them talk about their cds is funny. In between the songs they do comedy. Not like routines or anything, just funny observations and stories. Oh did I mention that they do requests. Admittedly they only do requests for their own songs, but how many bands take request from the audience at the concert? The dangerous part is that people ask them to play songs that they haven't played in over 5 years. That happened last night. Lots of fun!
